Call us jaded, but these days it takes a lot to get us to raise an eyebrow at a build. Yet this 1965 Chevy C10 truck gets the job done in that department with aplomb. We’ve really never seen another one like it, as the chopped top, hot rod-style front end with its narrowed grill and zoomies, along with the bed-less rear give this C10 a silhouette that more closely resembles a coupe than a former work truck.

As the video indicates, this build is thankfully not all show and no go, as this open-header’d two door is more than happy to roast the tires when the inclination strikes due to its 400ci small-block motor that reportedly puts out 380 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque. Backed by a TH400 automatic and weighing in at just 2,500 pounds, it’s no surprise this thing really moves out when you mash the throttle.

Amazingly, Mark Austin, the man behind this wild build, says that this C10 coupe came together more or less as a way to kill time between other projects he was working on, and the entire process took just six months to complete.

After we get an up-close look at the details of this wicked machine in the video above, Mark takes the C10 to a parking lot for some American (or would be Australian?) style tire-melting mayhem.
