We’ve all heard of Yenko Camaros, but did you know that Donald Yenko also modified Chevelles? Unfortunately for muscle car enthusiasts, not many of these cars were created- making them extremely rare. Recently, however, a true Yenko Chevelle was added to the line-up for the St. Charles Mecum Auction taking place in mid-September. This could be your one and only chance to get your hands on a Yenko Chevelle.
The ’69 Chevelle is listed as one of the most original of its kind- one of only 99 ever made. It is a Double COPO (9562 and 9737) car. The 9562 means that the Chevelle is equipped with an L72 427cui, 450hp big block with a 4-core radiator. The 9737 refers to the specialty suspension that was put on the car, traditionally referred to as the Yenko Sports Car Conversion Option. This option also put 15-inch Rally wheels on the car. The Chevelle is also equipped with a 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 4.10 gears, a floor-shifted Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 transmission, tachometer mounted on the dash and Yenko Stewart-Warner gauges.
Unlike many rare muscle cars, this Chevelle is unrestored. It has only 30,087 original miles on it and even comes with its original LeMans Blue paint and white Yenko graphics. The 427 fender badges are also still intact. Registered in the SuperCar Registry, this Chevelle comes with its original documentation including its original broadcast sheet.
If you’re interested in bidding on this true Yenko muscle car gem, it will be up for bid at 1:10p.m. on September 17th at the St. Charles auction. There is no doubt that this rare Chevelle will get tons of attention at the auction and we look forward to seeing just how much money it goes for.
