If you’ve ever seen a crash at an automotive race, you know how grisly they can be. Whether you’ve seen one in person, watching the race on TV or on the nightly news, they can be worrisome to watch. In many cases, drivers are taken away by ambulance once their car comes to a rest. While it’s not as common, some lucky drivers are actually able to walk away from their wrecks. Recently, Autoholics posted a video of such a crash.
The crash took place at a road racing event. The video starts with a Camaro GT4 skidding sideways and then backward down the track. One it slides onto the grass on the far side of the track, the back end of the car hit’s the wall at a fairly high speed. Once the wall is grazed, it sends the Camaro flipping down the track. After flipping three times, the Camaro comes to rest on its roof with smoke billowing out of the car. The crash happens all while other drivers are speeding past, trying to avoid the Camaro as best as they can.
It was definitely a nasty wreck but the driver was able to climb out of his driver’s side door and walk away from the wreck on his own. If you watch the full video, the second half shows the wreck in slow motion.
We’re glad that the driver walked away from this crash with very few injuries. It is a shame, however, that the Camaro GT4 fared far worse.
