Video: Stoner’s Speed Shop Bags A ’54 Chevy Pickup Left For Dead

Back from the grave, the creative minds at Stoner’s Speed Shop in Hudson, Iowa took a 1954 Chevrolet 5-window pickup and revived a truck that was merely left for dead.

Left in the shrubs to rot away, this rusty red ’54 Chevy pickup was fortunate to be rescued by the staff at Stoner’s Speed Shop. With flat tires, a rusty frame and a tattered interior, it was going to take a considerable amount of work to restore the truck.

Rebuilding the truck from the ground up, we can see in the video it was no easy task. They looked to have had all hands on deck working on this truck.

From the framing and welding to the instrument cluster and dash install, each step during this truck’s tedious surgery was performed at a high level of quality. Sure they didn’t focus on the paint job, but all the other components define this pickup.

Risen from the dead, this '54 Chevy 5-window was worked on meticulously from the ground up.

The mechanics retrofitted Chevrolet’s 6.0L LS2 V8 engine in the truck, a motor that produces 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. With a strong engine supplanted, the mechanics took the truck a step further installing an airbag suspension system and a fully loaded interior.

With all said and done, this Chevy pickup needs a paint job to complete its quest back to glory. We like the setup on this truck and with the airbag suspension, any height or stance is possible on this truck.

Furthermore, they went for the simple approach, spraying the wheels a new color instead of swapping for rims. The simple wheels tucked underneath this bagged pickup makes for a nice, conservative setup.

What do you think of the setup on the truck? It sure looks to be a sleeper with an LS2 motor lurking under the hood of this scrappy looking pickup.

Flipped inside and out, this '54 pickup turned out pretty sweet.
