What do you do when you love boating and classic cars? Combine them of course! Spend enough time on the water and you’ll surely see some interesting, seaworthy vehicles and this 1960 Impala boat is no exception.
This boat started life as a 1960 Chevrolet Impala. Currently, it’s wearing its original black paint along with a red and white houndstooth interior. The owner put the Impala on a pontoon boat and made it into his personal boat, but it looks like the car could be easily converted back for use on land. The boat was for sale on eBay once and although the owner didn’t give very many specifics, we can see the boat is powered by an outboard motor, instead of a nice Chevy motor under the hood.
The ad claimed that there was no chassis under the body, but it’s hard to tell from the pictures. There is a set of wheels and tires, but they could just be a static display and not attached to anything else. The speedometer read 67,000 miles, but that doesn’t count any sort of nautical miles.
If you’re looking for a 1960 Impala two-door and have a frame, this could have been the perfect opportunity for you. Unfortunately, the sale doesn’t exist anymore. And it didn’t include the pontoon, so you couldn’t take it to your local water area and show it off to friends. What would have been really impressive is if the original motor was under the hood, powering the boat. That would make this the ultimate 1960 Impala boat conversion!
