If you’ve ever come across a vehicle that is seemingly too far gone, you know the gut-wrenching feeling it evokes among all classic car fans. But for Jason Zeigler, one trashed out classic Nova worked as inspiration for a very unique project which has since brought two all-American past-times together. Check out Zeigler’s unique Chevy-backed creation in ThePostGame video above, presented by Mobil 1.

For school, Zeigler had to create something with his own two hands for a class he was taking, and while the options were limitless, he opted to create a BBQ like no other. Taking a classic Nova (said to be a ’72, although we’re thinking it’s more like a ’73 or a ’74) him and his dad Jeff found upside down in a ditch, Zeigler crafted this awesome grill for all his family’s get-togethers.

Sticking with the souped-up muscle car theme you’d expect with a classic Nova, the grill has some pretty trick features, from five burners and an electric starter to a custom grille, actuator-driven retractable BBQ lid and even a replica engine BBQ topper. Now if that didn’t get Zeigler and A+ on the project, we don’t know what more the teacher could expect.

Now that the BBQ is finished, it’s a prized piece of family equipment, with the guys pulling it out of the garage every time they’re ready to grill. They can even take the “Nova ‘Q” to gatherings off their property thanks to a handy trailer attachment, which happened to puzzle the DMV for quite some time.

Now, some will argue that a car is never too far gone and that this particular Nova could have been salvaged, but with the amount of money Zeigler would have poured into it, he may as well have paid for his full college education. And besides, who doesn’t want a classic Chevy muscle car grill?
