Like a lot of you, we grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons and were generally staring at the boob tube and eating Captain Crunch straight from the box long before our parents were ever awake. Those carefree days may be long gone, but gearheads do still get a little veg time on Saturday mornings courtesy of the “Powerblock” on SpikeTV. Each Saturday morning they run several highly produced shows on topics that gearheads everywhere like, and showcase the skills that a lot of us would like to learn.

Our personal favorite show is MuscleCar because it deals with, well muscle cars! The show hosts restore the cars of the ’60’s and 70’s vintage that we love, and the content of the show is primarily centered around bodywork, steel fabrication, paint, and a few other items. They do touch on motor builds a bit, but most of that is left to our second favorite show, Horsepower! Horsepower! is all engines, all of they time. The hosts build up old and modern power-plants of every flavor, testing each one either on a stand engine dyno or in a car on their chassis dyno.

Trucks! is essentially the truck version of the show MuscleCar, and Xtreme is a show centered on building radical tube-chassis off road rigs.

We highly recommend that you set your DVR’s now. If you can’t spare the time on Saturday morning, just sneak it in on Sunday nights after the kids are in bed!
