We’re not strangers to weird or wild custom cars, and the Chevy Camaro has always been a favorite of modifiers looking to do something different, but on a budget. Unfortunately, many of these projects turn out as you imagine, at best cobbled together with hardware store supplies and an unskilled hand, but at least they somehow make it back onto the road.
These are the customs that we see, but what about all of the half-finished projects that never see the light of day? This Craigslist ad the Nashville area of Tennessee has a custom 1987 Camaro up for sale, and this half-finished project looks as confused as a cow on Astroturf. For $8,500, is anyone willing to pick up where this wannabe Chip Foose left off?
From the front, this Camaro looks a lot like a 1999 – 2004 Ford Mustang, especially those headlights. Out back though, this Camaro drops the American muscle look in favor of a British-inspired facade, as we are instantly reminded of the back end of an Aston Martin. Speaking of the back end, the builder widened it some five inches, giving this Camaro the kind of booty Sir Mix-a-Lot approves of.
The concept was initially for some kind of exotic-looking two-seat coupe, but the project seems to have stalled past the point of no return. It wouldn’t be worth the time and effort to turn this Camaro back into a Camaro, even with a tuned port V8 under the hood, but finishing this project also seems like a non-starter. And for $8,500? We have a feeling this car is going to be popping back up on Craigslist for a long, long time.
