Our friends at Holley always have something cooking in their shop and their latest one should make all of you G-Body and LS fans sing to the hills. They’re calling their ’86 El Camino the “El Camino Verde” project. It’s going to be a rolling platform of all of Holley’s performance parts specific to G-Bodies in regards to LS swaps, and it will starts with the LS3 “E-Rod” under the hood from GM Performance Parts.
The “E-Rod” package was introduced by GM Performance Parts at the 2009 SEMA show and features a turn key LS3 that is completely emissions compliant, catalytic converters, computers, and all. El Camino Verde will also use an automatic Bowler–built 4L60E tranny.
Holley has plans to run this El Camino hard and is setting it up for much improved handling with suspension from Hotchkis. It will also feature a huge set of Baer brakes wrapped with an 18″ set of E/T Classic Fives that update the look of the car but still keep it nostalgic.
The rear end features Moser axles to handle the extra power that the E-Rod will be putting out. From a body perspective, the body was pulled off the frame and freshened, and the entire frame was blasted clean and primed and painted as well.
Holley plans to take the car on the Hot Rod Power Tour this summer, and be sure look for it on all of your favorite car TV shows as well!
