Proving that they are much more than simply one of the oldest and one of the most respected valve train companies in the industry, Crane Cams prominently highlighted their ignition systems at this year’s PRI trade show.
According to Crane’s Terry Johnson, the venerable valve train company offering an entire line of ignition products is not the only eye-opening factoid in this scenario. “We take it to another level,” says Johnson.
“All of our ignition components are hand-built by specifically trained technicians,” he explains. “Because of this specialization, a technician is not expected to be decent at assembling mechanical and electrical. Our technicians are expert professionals in their particular tasks.”
As a result of Crane’s focus on employee specialization, “Our ignition components are extremely dependable. There’s no shimming or welding, the timing is extremely stable and you don’t get that three or four degrees of fluctuation in the timing light like other ignition systems,” Johnson declares.
In addition to the precision of the ignition spark timing, Johnson says, “The ignition components are ultra-durable which lowers the maintenance time a race team has to spend on the ignition. A great percentage of the time, racers installing our ignition products see a horsepower gain.”
Crane Cams’ range of ignition products goes from HEI digital ignition modules to full digital cd ignition boxes. Most Crane Cams ignition products are “plug-n-go” with universal wiring harness. “Our ignition products are compatible with everything else on the market,” says Johnson, which means that a car owner can upgrade one piece at a time and still have full use of the vehicle. If you want a complete kit to do a full ignition swap, Crane has you covered there as well.
Crane Cams’ ignition products were represented in many National series champion car this year. From IMCA to ASA and ARCA, Crane Cams lights the fire for race winning engines.
