What did you do this weekend? As for me and the family, we made a stop over at the biannual 2010 Temecula Rod Run. Each year, the city of Temecula shuts down its Front Street Old Town district and welcomes thousands of site seers, hot rod and muscle car enthusiasts and curious residents to enjoy sunshine, music, and vendors along with the hundreds upon hundreds of examples of vintage and classic Detroit iron.
Recently, the Temecula Rod Run opted to limit what cars were considered “classics,” capping the entries at 1973. That’s right, all pre-’74 cars only. Nonetheless, this past October 8th and 9th weekend welcomed in plenty of cars including several from Grand Marshall George Barris including the “Munster Coach” from “The Munsters,” “Herbie the Love Bug,”and KITT from “Knight Rider.”
Including tons of cool cars and great music, the Temecula Fall Rod Run encouraged attendees to support those unemployed and struggling for food by bringing two can goods to support the Temecula Community Food Pantry, making this weekend the largest can good drive in the history of Temecula. Not only that, but the proceeds from the Rod Run went to various Temecula-based charities.
