Here at Chevy Hardcore, we believe 575 horsepower is an antidote for anything that ails you and Sammy Maloof, engine guru extraordinaire, proves our point with a cool ’68 Chevelle small-block upgrade that injects the aforementioned motivation into a classic Chevy mid-sizer.
Based in San Gabriel. CA. Maloof Racing Engines has over 25 years experience in high performance engine builds, custom exhaust, dyno tuning and fabrication. Maloof has made his mark in most every venue of motorsports and his builds have hit the covers of most major speed publications. His customers come from around the world in search of potent Chevy power and Sammy’s happy to oblige. Check out a pic of the shop for a glorious mashup of all things Chevy.
Chevelle owner “Buddy B.” made the pilgrimage to Maloof and the result is a mega mouse motor with a resume that ticks all the right boxes. 383 CI small block Chevy, Brodix Aluminum heads, Iskenderian Solid Rollercan and 575 HP on pump gas. Follow along with the build and get a eyeful of gearhead goodness.
When all’s said and done, Sammy himself lights ‘em up at :47. After a couple passes Maloof gives the thumbs up but says with a little fine tuning it’ll be perfect.
Like we said before, mega horsepower solves a lot of problems and owner Buddy looks amazingly calm and relaxed just before he burns rubber into the sunset
