Racers and aftermarket parts manufacturers tend to throw around the term “CNC Machined” a lot these days. So much in fact, that we tend to forget the amazing technology behind that science.
Haas recently released a video of their factory in Oxnard, California that reminds us of the wonder of CNC machines. When you stop to realize how many industries are affected by the work that CNC machines perform, it seems like a privilege that high performance automotive enthusiasts can take advantage of the precision that CNC machining offers.
From high performance military aircraft to common everyday items like plastic spoons or soda bottles, CNC machines have made an impact. Sure, the video is heavily loaded with marketing terms and even some chest pounding by the company, but when you look at the work going on behind the narration, maybe they have a right to brag a little.
We found the inside look at the factory pretty interesting. That’s a million square feet of manufacturing going on in three buildings. The video shows how the process goes from idea to engineering, all the way to manufacturing in these three buildings.
If you are a geek about mechanical engineering, this video is right up your alley. If you just like cool stuff, there’s plenty here to be amazed by. One thing is certain though, after watching this video, we bet you never look at your CNC ported cylinder heads or CNC machined carb spacer the same way again.
