Good things come to those who wait. I know it sounds a little cliché, but in the case of those who attended the first day of the Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals, it’s a fact. (If you want to check out day two, Click Here). Thursday morning and late afternoon is a set-up day, and this year, was plagued with rain. Even early Friday morning, the sky looked like it could start dampening spirits at any time. Luckily, it never did. In fact, the partly cloudy day delivered gorgeous conditions and an event that was a great time for all that were in attendance.

If you like your Camaros of the first-gen variety, then Kenda Kulp’s Butternut Yellow drop top is right up your alley. She was one of the first cars to hit the show field, and many others soon began to fill the grassy areas.

Unfortunately, the threat of inclement weather surely kept some enthusiasts home, but they missed a great showing of all things GM. This year, the theme is 1969, and The Summer of Cool was in full swing. The 1969 car models are considered by many to be the epitome of factory hot-rodding, and General Motors offered everything from the Camaro RS/SS to the Pontiac Firebird, and the GTO Judge, Chevelle, and Olds 442, to the Buick GSX. It was a stellar year for awesome cars from GM. There were a lot of models from that vintage year on hand.

The Nostalgic Nova Club — and several other clubs — brought a myriad of pristine iron to showcase, and they were all standout specimens.
