In motorsports it’s extremely crucial to receive correct information from every source available to you. One of the most often overlooked sources is the tachometer and gauge setup within your vehicle. Not only will ignoring what your gauges are telling you potentially harm your engine, but it can leave valuable horsepower on the table. Our friends at Autometer understand this, and is why we were extremely excited to stop by their booth and check out their new NASCAR Plug and Play ELITE CAN Gauges designed for the new NASCAR EFI system.
The new gauges make it extremely easy to see the pit road speed indicators.
We’ve got to do whatever we can to get the information to the drivers so that they don’t have to spend as much time looking at the gauges.
But what type of changes can teams expect with these gauges? “We’ve introduced several changes, we have a multi-scale dial for temperature gauges, which really improves the resolution that you see, more of the dial is seen in the operating range,” Delving explained. “We’ve also changed our dial face and simplified it with multi-color dials so that the numbers stand out more.”
Delvin also explained to us how teams are creating challenges for Autometer by requesting lighter tachometers and gauges, “One of the challenges that we faced was decreasing the weight, because the gauges sit so high,” explained Delvin. “So we had to introduce a new tach that plugs into the ECU, and is considerably lighter than our previous tachs.”
The other features of the new NASCAR plug and Play Elite CAN Gauges include:
- Ten pit road speed indicator lights
- Oriented radially around the edge of the dial
- Corner RPM band added for improved on track performance
- Expanded viewable area with face forward
- Low profile bezel design
- Completely sealed system
