At last year’s PRI tradeshow in Orlando, Florida, we happened to catch GZ Motorsports‘ racing vacuum pump on display. After talking with company founder Greg Zucco, we’ve given a lot of thought about the VP series Vacuum pumps.

In the subsequent 350 days following the 2010 PRI tradeshow, our dreams have been filled with many restless nights of aftermarket racing parts. One of the more prominent reoccurring dreams have been about the GZ Motorsports racing vacuum pump. It’s gotten to the point where we are ready to add it to our Christmas wish list.

Zucco has convinced us that there are some gains to be made by installing this pump on any race engine. “Large horsepower gains can be found utilizing vacuum in the crankcase, which among other numerous benefits, promotes better ring seal with our higher capacity vacuum pumps,” says Zucco.

Whenever you talk about large horsepower gains… we’re interested.

Now that we’ve added the vacuum pump to our Christmas list, we fear that more nights of lost sleep are in our future. Choosing between the VP100 Sportsman budget pump, the Sportsman 22 cfm pump, the Super Pro 33 cfm pump or the monster VP 104 Super Pro Vacuum pump is going to create nightmares for us.

We’ll deal with the bad dreams until Christmas day when we unwrap the package and find out what Santa brought us. With any luck, we’ve been nice this year which means we can be really naughty on the track next year.
