Chances are, you’ve had to weld up a pannel or two. It’s a painful process that involves grinding paint off your brand new parts to be welded in. Now, it can now be avoided if you own a 1955-1957 Chevy. Classic Industries has released their Weld-Thru Rocker Panels, that you can use to replace those rusted panels with new corrosion protected ones.
As the corrosive effects of time have taken their toll, reproduction sheet metal components have become an increasingly important element of restoring a 1955-57 Chevrolet. These new rocker panels, part of Classic Industries’ all-new Weld-Thru line, are at the forefront of a new trend in the restoration industry. Rocker panels frequently fall victim to rust, but thanks to these new Weld-Thru replacements, Classic Industries makes it easier than ever to give new life to an older Chevy.
“Body panel installation is a critical part of the restoration process for any Chevy build,” said Ray Yager, Merchandising Director of Classic Industries. “Our new Weld-Thru products were developed to reduce prep-time while providing greater corrosion resistance and a better end result.”
Instead of the traditional black EDP coating which must be removed prior to welding, these new sheet metal products from Classic Industries are finished with a special silver weld-through primer, which creates several advantages. Weld-Thru products require minimal preparation, allow for better corrosion protection between overlapped panels, and promote superior weld characteristics. Heat-zone problems are eliminated, reducing panel distortion and allowing for better penetration into the dense steel, which compensates for impurities in the older sheet metal.
