Today, we are officially half way through our Chevy Hardcore Lunati Great Cam Giveaway contest as we announce our first week winners. If you didn’t win this week, don’t worry because we will be accepting entries until June 14th at 2 PM PST. All you need to do is go to Lunati’s Facebook Page and write why YOU deserve to win a Lunati cam, and what camshaft YOU want…plus don’t forget to post pictures of the project!

Lunati has upped their ante by ALSO giving away a set of lifters for anyone that calls into Lunati tech line at (662) 892-1500 to get their cam specs. That means if you win, a simple 10 minute phone call could mean the difference in also winning a FREE set of lifters!

Hydraulic. Mid-level performance street cam with excellent drivability. Works well with stock type exhaust manifolds and dual plane intake with mild 4 bbl carb. This is an Awesome 4×4 and performance marine cam where dry exhaust is used. Improved valve springs and roller rockers recommended.

This Week’s First Winner

Our first winner for this weeks round of Lunati camshaft giveaways is Matt Laprise. Most of us know what’s it’s like to start from the bottom. Much is the case for Matt Laprise who’s ’85 K-Series truck is in desperate need of a new bump ‘stick. Working at an engine shop, Laprise honed his skills in wrenching and ignited his enthusiasm. Laprise even went as far as obtaining a second-hand big-block to get some additional power. Check out the rest of his story, below!

My names Matt, I’m a 17 year old farm boy from Chatham, Ontario and this is my 1985 Chevy pickup. I bought it in grade ten, Friday the 13th in November of 2009, since than it has gone over several non stop modifications including a restoration, lift kit, 305 to 454 swap, interior work and just about everything else auto enthusiasts love to add as well.

During the past summer I worked at a local performance shop (Westside Performance in Blenheim, ON), not only did I enjoy working there but I also learnt quite a few things that helped me out with the progress on my truck. Like mentioned, the truck was lifted quite high when I purchased it, the 38.5,16 Mickey Thompsons were just a little too much and had taken they’re toll on the 305. Therefore, I was able to get my hands on a 1995 K2500 Suburban with a 5th gen 454, I than ripped the motor out of the Suburban and as well as my pickup, started the restoration and the build up of the new motor.

While working at Westside, I was able to purchase some headers, an intake, fuel pump, carb, new distributor and what not to “up the ante”, sadly I ran out of runny before I could do a cam swap and after learning and watching some videos on Youtube about Lunati’s new Voodoo line up, I was dead set on one of their cams. I find I deserve one of these cams because I am completely in love with Lunati, I work hard at whatever I do, I find I treat “Matilda” (trucks name haha) as one of my kids and do anything for it and this just happens to be one of those things, one of Lunati’s cams would make my dream come true for me and my truck and would be greatly appreciated!!

Not too mention I’m turning 18 on April the 3rd and a free cam from Lunati would be a pretty kick ass birthday present. Talked to David at tech and me and him had discussed the idea of getting the Voodoo 262/270, part number: 60210. This truck is going to be my daily driver and I cannot wait to get it on the road in hopes of having it running a Lunati cam. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, wishing everyone good luck on this one!!
