The 1960s were a simpler time and so were the vehicles that were produced back then. That didn’t mean the cars were any less appealing, however, as a look back at a vintage 1965 Chevy commercial on Jalopnik shows. Hosted by a slue of on-screen cowboys, friendly witches and even a secret agent, lets take a trip back to 1965 to see what Chevy had in store for their customers.
The Chevy commercial introduces the ‘65 Corvette Sting Ray, Corvair, Corsa, Chevelle, Chevy II and Impala Sport Coupe. If you’re familiar with the shows of the 1960s, you may recognize TV stars like Pernell Roberts and Michael Landon from Bonanza, Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York and Agnes Moorehead from Bewitched and Robert Vaughn from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. talking about these classic Chevrolets.
While the footage is a bit grainy, it is interesting to see some features Chevrolet felt were noteworthy for their commercial. Features like the side vents and disc brakes of the Corvette, telescopic steering column available for the Corvette and Corvair, available 180hp for the Corsa, the new “smooth ride” of the Chevelle, new roofline of the Chevy II and the “the beautiful shape” of the Impala are all highlighted.
Whether you’re from an older generation or were yet to be born in 1965, the vintage commercial is definitely worth watching. If nothing else, it’ll prove just how far cars have come in style and performance since the “simpler times.”
