Eric’s Muscle Cars have outdone themselves again. They have built this mean Pro Street 1969 Camaro Z28. Not only is this Z28 a looker, its a real performer as well. It’s interesting to see first generation Z28 built as a drag car, as they were initially designed for Trans Am Road Racing.
Its all metal body is in pristine condition, a show car quality coat of black paint lays over the exterior. The chrome and the weatherstripping are brand new, helping give the body a factory fresh appearance. The interior has a Shock 6-point roll cage with drop downs for easy access to slide into leather bucket seats. A 4-speed sits on the floor in a wood console and wooden dash lets the driver know how fast he is going.
Inside of the engine bay is a titan 396 big-block Chevy engine. It has been rebuilt with several hard goods such as a steel GM performance crank, a solid lifter cam and 10.5 to 1 forged pistons make up the internals. Rebuilt GM heads with performance rockers, an Edelbrock aluminum intake and a Holley 4-barrel carb sit on top of the block. An enthusiastic Eric had this to say “It hits hard as nails and runs super strong all off pump gas. Gotta love that!”
The 396 is backed by a Richmond Super T-10 four speed transmission, which connects to a 12-bolt posi rear with tire spinning 4.56 gears. The exhaust flows through big tube headers which runs through a 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust. The Camaro sits on a 4-link rear suspension with adjustable coil overs and is brought to a halt by front wheel disk brakes.
The 396 and the 4.56 gears work together to roast the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial tires. Eric and his crew have done one hell of job building this Pro Street Camaro. If you owned a first gen Camaro would it be Pro Street or Pro-Touring?
