Each year, the crew at Kooks Headers & Exhaust come up with something special in the performance-header market. This year is no exception. As soon as we walked in the booth, the guys couldn’t wait to tell us that Kooks had an exclusive deal that involved Edelbrock’s Corvette C7 Victor Jr. cylinder heads and the Gen-VI Camaro Victor Jr. heads. According to the company spokesman, Kooks is currently, the only company offering headers for those particular applications.
Kooks also entered a new Corvette system into SEMA’s new-product showcase for consideration. Kooks new step-header for the ZR1, which will fit the 2014 and newer Corvette C7, LT1/LT4 Z06, Grand Sport and base models, will certainly be a game-changer.
“The benefits of these step headers is that you will get the low-end to medium-end torque, and high-end ranges that you would with an 1 7/8-inch header, and still maintain that low-end power,” said company spokesman. “This all depends on the engine that you are working with. For an 800 to 900 horsepower car, a 1 7/8-inch header is going to be a little bit constrictive. In that case, you’d want to go to a 2-inch primary tube. However, with a 450 horsepower, factory-stock car, this tube size gives you the ability to maintain that low-end torque, and get that high-end power you want. It’s a great option for guys that are road racing, it gives you power across the entire band.”
