Other than Bob and Doug McKenzie, it’s hard to think of many Rednecks that come from north of the Mason-Dixon line. Fans of PBS stations across the United States will immediately respond with the Red Green show that featured the title character, Red Green, a redneck handyman that was an avid user and proponent of duct tape, which he called “the handyman’s secret weapon”.
The show was set in the fictional town of Possum Lake, near Port Asbestos. Red and his fellow lodge members hosted their own TV show that featured demonstrations on how to repair almost everything using good old fashion redneck ingenuity. Their show also gave advice for men and showed how to make the most of the great outdoors.
The series ran from 1991 to 2006 and can still be caught through reruns on a good day. The show’s creators occasionally go on tour, taking their comedy act through Canada and the United States.
In this segment of the Red Green show, originally aired in the Season 9 episode 14, entitled Guinness World Records, this handyman’s tip on how to upgrade to power windows was featured. Red had it covered from the budget end of things. Buying a battery operated hand mixer, without the blades, gives the user the ability to roll the windows up or down.
As demonstrated by Red, this handy redneck tip is sure to make you popular with the women. “If women don’t find you handsome, they can sure find you handy.”
