While it cannot be denied that classic American muscle cars had a certain style and pizazz all their own, we think the real allure was the massive motors sitting under the hood. As the years went on the engines got bigger and bigger, at least until emissions standards killed horsepower. On the drag strip and at cruise nights, these cars still live and still stir up the same emotions as when they were brand new.
While it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this supercharged, fire-breathing Camaro is far from stock, who cares? Do you see the size of the flames popping out of those open headers?
Fire-breathing cars have always been popular with the kids, and for a while there were even kits that let you tap into the fuel line to shot huge jets of flame out of your exhaust tips. Alas, most states have banned such devices, which leaves just one option; build a monster motor and run it as rich as you can.
When we say rich, we mean “dump as much fuel down the carb as possible”, the result of which is the fire you see crackling from the exhaust. It’s especially cool how the flames pulse with the engine, staying lit up until the moment the driver kills the motor. Afterwards, the exhaust pipe glows red hot for obvious reasons, adding yet another cool effect to this fire-breathing Camaro.
