Video: BumbleBee Crashes Into Real Cop Car On Transformers 3 Set

Michael Bay movies are not known for deep plots, relatable characters, or thoughtful storytelling. No, the man who brought us Bad Boys and Armageddon is best known for blowing up… well, just about everything. Not that there is anything wrong with that, as the man also brought us a great Transformers movie. Unfortunately the sequel, Revenge of the Fallen, wasn’t nearly as good. Bay is now working on a third installment, and it appears as though trouble is following the good director everywhere on this particular film.

After a stunt accident in Gary, Indiana that landed an extra in the hospital with head injuries earlier this summer, now comes this crash of a Bumblebee Camaro T-boning a real Washington D.C. police SUV during filming.

We are always thankful that we live in the age of would-be Michael Bays who have their handy camera phones ready to go wherever the Transformers is filming. We’ve already seen battle scenes playing out in the streets of Chicago, as well as the horrific stunt accident that injured the aforementioned extra. Now we have multiple views of this admittedly minor accident involving the Bumblebee Camaro and a D.C. police officer.

The setting appears to be another one of those “roll out” scenes with the Autobots speeding through Washington D.C., probably to stop some Decepticon nonsense. As Optimus Prime, Sideswipe, and the other Autobots turn around a corner, Bumblebee comes screaming down a side street. Going the opposite way, though, is a real police SUV responding to a real crime. While we can easily hear the sirens many seconds before the actual accident, apparently nobody thought to tell the stunt driver to back off for a moment. The resulting accident sent the officer to the hospital with minor injuries, and Bumblebee looks pretty well smashed up, though the SUV looked fine.

It’d be cool to include this footage in the final cut, though we doubt that will happen. Maybe Michael Bay will get better walkie-talkies for his stunt drivers next time – all we know is that the insurance premiums for the production of Transformers 4: Transform Harder are going to be through the roof.
