In 2011, our friends over at Detroit Speed Engineering (DSE) had a wild and crazy year. Not only did they have a ton of fun traveling all over the country to shows and events, they also launched their presence into social media and expanded their product line. As the 2012 season is starting to heat up, Detroit Speed has put together a video looking back at their fantastic 2011 season. Check out the video above.

Detroit Speed’s season started early last year at the Greensboro, North Carolina Shriner’s Hot Rod Expo where DSE displayed their Chevy II equipped with Jet-Hot coated headers, which took its class win. The DSE crew then headed to Irvine, California with their two test cars to participate in the 2^nd Annual Run to the Coast event. There, DSE engineer Ryan Matthews won the road course event and DSE co-owner Kyle Tucker took third. Tucker also placed second in the speed stop challenge and autocross.

Following the Run for the Coast event, DSE headed to the Midwest for the 2011 Hot Rod & Restoration show where they revealed their new Detroit Tuned Steering Rack, Chevy II Wiper Kit and 10^th anniversary catalog. The 2011 spring show season was capped off with DSE’s first, second and third place wins at the Goodguys Fort Worth Spring Lonestar Nationals autocross event in the ‘69 Camaro and ‘63 Chevy II test cars, as well as show appearances in Pleasanton and Del Mar, California.

Detroit Speed’s summer was packed full of events. Not only did they join Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, they also participated in the Goodguys Nashville event with first and 8^th place finishes in the Vendor autocross class. Run to Music City proved to be just as successful for DSE with Tucker qualifying for the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. DSE also participated in the Motor State Challenge, Chevellebration 2011, the Goodguys Columbus Nationals, Bowler’s Day at the Strip in Illinois, Sandhills open road course challenge and the Midwest Muscle Car Challenge with their test cars.

Fall brought the Goodguys Kansas, Goodguys Indianapolis, and Run Through the Hills events. Just like in previous years, DSE sponsored the Muscle Machine of the Year award for Goodguys. In 2011, Gerry Kerna and the “Runt” were crowned. Fall also brought DSE’s Open House, participation at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, OUSCI and Tucker’s participation in the Score Baja 1000 event.

Detroit Speed had an amazing year with tons of accomplishments to be proud of. With so much success in 2011, we can’t wait to see what DSE has in store for 2012.
