Many of us dream about owning a classic ’66 Chevelle SS. A lucky few of us do. Even fewer are able to own one, and build it right. But only the elite are able to take that car, and build it right not once, but twice. That’s exactly what Chris Jacobs (yes, that one from TV’s Overhaulin’) did with his example, and after learning more about this car if you don’t walk away impressed, then you simply don’t have a pulse.
Some of you may recognize this car from the Midwest Muscle Car Challenge, countless magazines, and even pro-touring websites such as pro-touring.com and lateral-g.net, the latter of which is where we finally caught up to Chris and his bodacious ride, while he was in the middle of replacing the frame that was designed and installed under his car only five years ago.
Although the car (which is powered by a dry-sump LS7) didn’t really need a new frame, Chris is somewhat of a perfectionist, and hated how the retrofitted chassis hung down below the car’s body –even lower than the OEM piece. Not to mention with the Chevelle’s lowered ride height, the new frame (courtesy of The Roadster Shop) makes ground clearance less of an issue.
So check out the pictures of Chris’s Chevelle in the attached links to learn more about his car and to follow along the progress as The Roadster Shop handle their business on Mr. Jacobs’ ride.
