The Mail Man Has A New Hauler, And It’s A Super-Cool C10

If you’re a fan of Chevrolet’s pickup, check out this sweet ’80 C10 belonging to Dustin Green from Maryville, Tennessee. Dustin spends his days as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal service, and to although he is driving around his hometown all day, that ride is no where near as cool as this truck – his after work hot rod. Dustin says he has always been a fan of the square body trucks, and picked this one up in June, 2015, from a friend. The friend originally planned to build the truck himself, but his plans changed. When Dustin took possession of the truck, he got straight to work. The build took he and his father roughly one year to reach the completed package you see here.

Just getting started with humble beginnings.

The truck only had minor rust and it was drivable, so they had a great base to start the build. The C10 was lowered by the previous owner, but was missing the interior. The truck had some wiring issues, and Dustin atributed that to the truck  sitting in the woods unattended for sometime. A few of the gauges needed to be replaced, and Dustin’s original plan was to create an interior and add wheels and tires. But, as you can see, it went much further than that. Dustin used LMC Truck for most of the parts on the little hauler, and he had help from his mom to re upholster the seat. Dustin said after buying all the new parts he couldn’t stop there, and continued to build what you see here.

A once barren cockpit now looks great.

The C10 came with the factory 305 cubic-inch small-block, but not long after getting the truck, the engine jumped time. The replacement engine comes in the form of an aluminum-headed 406 cubic-incg small-block. The stroker utilizes many Edelbrock products like E-series aluminum heads and an air gap intake using a Holley 650 cfm double pumper carburetor. Dustin went with a Comp Cams roller camshaft and rockers to help the compliment the engine.

Handling the power transfer duties from the small-block is a Turbo 350 transmission with a 2,500-rpm stall converter. Those are mated to a 12-bolt rearend with a 3.08 gear. To stick truck  to the pavement, Dustin chose 18×9.5 Boss Wheels on all four corners with Falken Tire Ziex 245/45-18 tires.

Rounding out the build is a cowl-induction hood, HID projector headlights, a billet grille, and a new paint job. With all the work that went into the build, and the fact that it was completed in just over a year, we think Dustin and his dad did a fantastic job creating a great show-worthy daily driver. He would like to thank his dad and mom for all the work that they put into the truck with him.

The C10 has a subtle stance, and looks great.

If you’re out and about in East Tennessee, and see this truck cruising along or at a show, stop in and check it out in person, your sure to be impressed by the work put into this great C10.
