According to our friends at Performance Distributors, their Pro Truck sponsored driver, 16-year old Dylan Martin enjoyed his first win of the Florida United Promoter Series, Pro Truck season.
Dylan and his crew were coming off of two-top 10 finishes at Auburndale Speedway in March and April. With the Performance Distributors’ line of H.E.I. distributors, called the “D.U.I. – Davis Unified Ignition onboard, the crew felt good about the way the truck was performing in practice. Arriving at the Citrus County Speedway on May 17, Dylan and the crew were still pleased with the #7 Performance Distributor’s Ford Raptor’s performance.
Dylan went out in qualifying and put the Ford Raptor on the pole, not by a fraction of a second, but he was almost 2 tenths faster than second place. In the racing world, “he smoked the competition.”
Dylan felt a vibration during the qualifying laps and once the truck was back in the pit stall, the crew rallied and got to work. With a few guys in the back of the truck, one under the truck and another under the hood, the issues were found and fixed.
Side by side crossing the start/finish line but by turn 2, Dylan had a truck length on the #59 truck. For the next 9 laps, he steadily kept pulling away from the field. By lap 20, he was a straightaway in front of the second place truck.
After a caution on lap 22, Dylan had a great restart, and within a couple laps he has pulled another good lead. Driving every lap like it his last, he pushed his truck to the limit, hitting the rev limiter ever lap.
The team gives a lot of credit to Performance Distributors and their ignition components for providing the power over the arduous and long races.
With two laps to go, Dylan runs the #41 deep into the corner and puts a move on him to make the pass coming out of the turn and retaking the lead. Dylan came out in front and took his first checkered flag of the season by a half of a truck length.
Performance Distributors and Dylan Martin rolled into victory lane to accept their proper place in racing history.
