How much would you pay for a dilapidated old truck? Probably not as much as you’d pay for a nicely restored one, unless you planned to rat-rod it out or are a fan of the derelict style. Well for all of you who fall in the later category, we have an eBay lot for you!
When we found out from Autoholics that a ‘50 Chevy Pickup with a unique bare-metal finish was being sold on eBay, we had to check it out. To our surprise, this truck is far from run-of-the-mill when it comes to beauty and the amenities it offers aren’t too shabby either.
Although the truck doesn’t feature a shiny new paint job, to say that it is gorgeous would be an understatement. Giving the truck its unique character is an amazing green, black and gray bare-metal patina.
The resulting finish is reminiscent of an old tarnished coin, earning the truck the name “Dirty Nickel.”
While some would look at the bare metal as a great base for a solid paint scheme, especially with the truck’s rather straight body, those who respect the derelict style will find beauty in the truck’s forsaken appearance.
Lucky for the later group, the truck has been clear-coated to preserve its one-of-a-kind look.
While the truck may look its age, modern components have been added to make driving it a joy. The C/K Pickup is fitted to an S-10 frame with full air ride suspension, allowing it to have a slammed look but ride comfortably without the body being scrapped up. The truck also features power disc brakes in the front and power drums in the rear, as well as power steering.
Under the hood lies a mildly built 350ci. small-block matted to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. The engine features finned valve covers and a Cadillac air cleaner, complete with pinstriping and silver leaf details. Fuel comes from a new gas tank under the truck bed and an electric fan keeps everything cool.
The interior of the truck is just as unique as the exterior, complete with Champagne Gold upholstery with gold piping and a metal flaked steering wheel out of a ‘59 Impala. A rugged wood bed, green wheels and white wall tires complete the Chevy’s individual look.
There is no “Buy It Now” price, but the seller seems to be asking a pretty penny for the truck with 19 bids and $20,100 not yet meeting the reserve price. If you’re interested in bidding on this distinctive Chevy and are willing to potentially pay top dollar, the eBay sale will remain open through March 20th.
