Getting married and starting a family typically takes some time away from hobbies and projects for awhile. While there is nothing wrong with that, and practically everyone goes through that stage of life, it leaves project cars to sit for years or be sold. Now you can benefit from one Pro-Touring.com member’s recent move to family mode as his exceptional Chevelle project car is now up for sale. Get it while it’s hot since this project comes with virtually everything you could ever ask for.
John McIntire was recently married and now has a young son, so he’s parting ways with the ‘72 Chevelle project car he named “Samantha” after owning it for 17 years. The car has always been garage kept and is a solid starting point for anyone itching to get their hands dirty under the hood of a car.
The Chevelle features newer quarter panels and brand new 1970 sheet metal on the front end because McIntire was in the process of converting the car. The door handles, locks, quarter marker lights and firewall have all been shaved and smoothed to an amazing finish.
The front and rear bumpers have also been shaved and were finished in polished chrome by Sherms Planting, though if you keep the front end with 1970 sheet metal, the spare ‘70 bumper that comes with the car can be used. The Chevelle is currently painted in Flame Yellow Pearl but the front end is still primer black from the manufacturer.
For the engine, the Chevelle comes equipped with a General Motors 620hp ZZ572. It is complete with a Ron Davis radiator and Billet Specialties Tru Trac Serpentine System without air conditioning. The Chevelle also features a Keisler Engineering TKO 600 5-speed conversion kit, Dennys HD Aluminum Driveshaft and a Hogan’s fabricated aluminum EFI intake.
The undercarriage of the car features trailing arms, tubular upper control arms and lowering springs from Hotchkis, Bilstein shocks and Polygraphite bushings from Performance Suspension Technology throughout.
Stopping power comes from a Hydratech Hydroboost system with stainless brake lines and a Baer Brake Track Kit. The rear end is a 12-bolt positraction setup with 3.73 gears. The exhaust features custom stainless steel headers from Kooks and two chamber mufflers from Flowmaster.
The Chevelle doesn’t have much of an interior, but comes with Corbeau Targa RS seats,Stroud five-point harnesses, a headliner, six-point cage, Vintage Air under dash unit, carpet and floor mats from Auto Custom Carpets, and a Budnik steering wheel. There is no dash or dash wiring that comes with the car.
The Chevelle sits atop 17-inch Budnik Mercury 5 Wheels, which match the steering wheel, wrapped in BFGoodrich G-Force KD rubber. The car also comes with two 20-gallon fuel cells, a plain sumped and an Aeromotive unit.
McIntire is asking $25,000 for everything he has and doesn’t want to part the car out. The Chevelle definitely has the makings of being an amazing pro-touring car and would make an excellent project for any Chevy fan.
