Most of us gearheads dream of throwing open the doors to a deserted barn and finding a collection of dusty, rare muscle cars just waiting for us. While it doesn’t happen every day, people are still coming across the rusted relics of their ancestors languishing away in some shed or barn. Sometimes, these cars are quite rare and very cool.

Take this 1959 C1 Corvette, which was posted to Corvette Forums. While it looks rough on the outside, this car is complete from back to front, and one of those rare rides that we can see where it has been hibernating for the past forty years.

According to the post, this ’59 Corvette is a two-owner car, which was bequeathed by an uncle to a nephew. The car was bought by the uncle’s family in 1961, and has been parked since the mid-60’s (thought it has license tags dated up to 1977). From the dust and debris surrounding it, it isn’t hard to believe that this car has been locked away since the decade of peace, love, and muscle cars.

Yet this is one barn find that won’t get a full-on restoration. Rather, it will be brought back up to “driver” status, and otherwise left alone. That includes the hopped-up camshaft and three Stromberg 97 carburetors. The nephew wants to leave the car as is, and the chassis is surprisingly rust free (must be one dry barn). Looking at it though, all it really seems to need is a good cleaning and polish, and probably some new tires as well. An interesting car with an interesting story, and it seems to have been left in the right hands.
