You might remember a few years ago when all-around thrill seeker Rob Dyrdek became the first person ever to kick flip a vehicle when he ramped a Chevy Sonic in December of 2011. The pro skateboarder turned TV host of MTV’s Ridiculousness and Fantasy Factory, did a complete 360 rotation with the Sonic in front of the packed crowd, and while in the air jumped the world’s largest skateboard with the sonic.
So how do you follow something like that up? By jumping a Chevy Sonic in reverse of course! However, Dyrdek isn’t just jumping the Sonic for the enjoyment of jumping a car in reverse, rather he is attempting to set the World Record for a vehicle being jumped while traveling in reverse.
You can tell from the video above that Dyrdek travels pretty far for being in reverse, Dyrdek would fly a total of 89 feet and 3 1/4 inches to set the World Record yesterday at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Reports quickly started coming out that after he landed he apparently had a small collision with a retaining wall but was in control long enough to have the World Record count.
You can see a quick preview of the jump that our friends at Chevrolet released, or you can see the complete jump on March 13th at 10:30PM EST on the series finale of the Fantasy Factory.
