“Red Stingray Corvette” Music Video is Exuberant, Cheesy

Thanks to computers and the interwebs, it’s easier now than it’s ever been to write a song, record it, shoot a video, and get your 15 minutes of fame. Back in the day, garage bands languished in obscurity, playing to “crowds” measured in single digits at the local watering hole’s open mic night. Today, though, there are no barriers to entry when it comes to getting your music to the masses, and maybe there should be…

The Buzzz’ Red Stingray Corvette is five minutes of video that celebrates the triumph of enthusiasm over talent. Watching it, you get the feeling that the band’s brainstorming session went something like, “Hey, we have this T-top Corvette, a video camera, and a girl in a bikini – we could TOTALLY shoot a video right now!”

The video starts off with the sound of the titular Red Stingray Corvette firing up, squealing tires, and a solid bass lick that has you nodding your head and thinking, “hey, maybe this will be good…”

Then, the vocals start, and the remaining four minutes and fifty seconds are what the Eighties would have been like, if it only cost about the same as a good restaurant meal to make a video back then.

All the boxes get checked off – No shirt, leather pants and matching vest, top hat? Check! Bongos? Check! Police siren sound clip? Check! Band member’s sister/girlfriend in a bikini, writhing on the car? Check! Of course, a little bit of Instagram-style filtering gets thrown in here and there for that modern-vintage feel, too.

Oh, and once all the moaning is over, don’t forget to throw in about thirty seconds of stock footage of a car that’s definitely not a Corvette going off a cliff…
