Prestolite And NMCA Offer $10K Prize For Modern Muscle Challenge

In 2010 Presolite Performance’s family of brands launched the Modern Muscle X campaign and sweepstakes with the goal to revamp three modern muscle cars: The ’11 Ford Mustang, ’10 Chevrolet Camaro, and the ’10 Dodge Challenger.

The campaign saw over 600,000 entries by its conclusion and in January 2011 chose National Guardsman Matt Pierson as the winner and awarded him with his choice of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

Now Prestolite Performance has partnered with the National Muscle Car Association and their Muscle Car Nationals to launch the inaugural Modern Muscle X Challenge.

This race will feature the fastest modern Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers vying for a $10,000 winners check, along with $1,000 going towards the fastest of each three cars.

The rules are simple: the fastest Mustang, Camaro and Challenger featuring Prestolite Performance products and the required specs will compete for cash prizes.

Anyone who thinks their muscle car has what it takes should register at www.ModernMuscleX.com. There will be 32 cars invited to attend the event and compete for the bounty. If any of those cars choose not to attend the Milan or fail to appear, alternates will be contacted to race. The Modern Muscle X Challenge will be held in Milan, Mich. at Milan Dragway Aug. 26 through 28, 2011.

CLASS RULES, MODERN MUSCLE X CHALLENGE VEHICLES PERMITTED: All 2005 – 2011 Mustang, 2010 – 2011 Camaro, and 2005 – 2011 Charger, Challenger, Chrysler 300 bodied vehicle powered by the respective production Modular, LS, or HEMI based engine accepted. Dragsters and roadsters prohibited.

ENGINE RULES: Engine must be ModularCoyote, LS, or Late Model Hemi style. Only Electronic Fuel Injection will be permitted (EFI). Aftermarket parts permitted.

BODY RULES: OEM steel (fiberglass/composite if OEM equipped) body shell required. Aftermarket body kits are permitted. Only permitted lightweight components are hood, front valance, rear valance, front and rear bumpers, and rear trunk lid/hatch. Hood is required, may be made of lightweight material. Hood scoops permitted. Any rear wing permitted. OEM safety glass windows required & must be functional. Lexan prohibited.

POWER ADDERS & POWERTRAIN: Production Modular, LS, or HEMI-based engine, and any number and/or type of power adders are permitted. Any manual or automatic transmission is permitted. Any rear end is permitted. Exhaust system with mufflers is required.
