The Chevrolet brand has been a staple in the automotive world for over 100 years now so to convey the evolution of the brand in a short yet understandable way would be a daunting task. But some creative students from Europe did just that last year during the Young Creative Chevrolet competition with amazing results. Although the winners were awarded back in September, we just caught wind of the competition and found the winning video submission on Vimeo to be worth taking a look at.
As we told you earlier, Young Creative Chevrolet (YCC) is an annual competition that takes work from European college students in several discipline areas, judges it and awards the winners with amazing prizes like behind-the-scenes work experiences. Participants can submit work of their own or as a group effort in one of four categories, including photography, visual arts, video and fashion, with submissions in music being allowed for 2011. The idea of the competition is to create new and unique ways to convey the philosophy and ideas behind the Chevy brand.
Last year countless students entered the competition with the first-place winners from each participating European country going on to compete at the pan-European level. When all was said and done, the top European video designation went to a team of five French students at the Ecole Emile Cohl school.
The talented team’s creative video is above. From the earliest Chevrolets to the modern Corvette, you’re taken through an animated journey of some of Chevrolet’s most iconic cars of the past 100 years. And if that’s not impressive enough, the team conveyed the evolution of the brand perfectly in under a minute.
Check out the 2011 YCC winning video above. It may be short but it screams of Chevrolet’s mighty industry impact in a major way.
