Lets say that your wife buys a Mustang just to be like all the other cute girls in town and half of the college girls under the age of 21 in this country. There’s a real chance that you might get stuck driving this chick car at some point. What do you do to make a Mustang manly enough to drive on those rare occasions when your wife needs to borrow your Chevy for real driving?
Simple… yank the sad little blue oval out and put in a bowtie.
We have visual proof that a Chevy engine can even make a Mustang act a little more masculine. There’s not much you can do with the exterior but as these gearheads from down-under found out, a Chevy under the hood improves the little librarian’s car into something that acts like a real musclecar.
The guys at Fullboost.com.au showed what can happen when you take a Ford and add some Chevy stuff to provide the testosterone. Testing the car out at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Australia, the crew takes several runs down the track and realize that the muscle is too much for the rubber and asphalt on this day.
Calder Park Raceway is a pretty amazing track to do all of your testing. Founded as a dirt track carved into the farming community by a group of enthusiasts that wanted a place to race their FJ Holdens. The track was so successful that it has turned into a complete complex with a drags trip, a road circuit and a high-banked oval track built for higher speeds.
As for the implanted engine in the Mustang, the fullboost crew says, “Power comes from a 632cid big block Chevy V8 engine boosted by a large frame 106mm turbo. Traction has obviously been the biggest obstacle so far with the car running deep eights at over 160mph.”
We will continue to watch for the next video from fullboost to see how well this beefed-up Mustang will run.
