The Unlimited Racing Championship (URC) in partnership with the Pirelli World Challenge Series announced recently it will debut its new racing series in 2015 in support of four banner World Challenge Series events.

This new Unlimited Racing Championship series will feature purpose built, identically prepared race cars by NuArt CanAm. As the name implies the cars are very reminiscent of the Can-Am cars of the 1960s. Although the cars have the appearance of their founding fathers, they are constructed with the very best 21^st century materials, engineering, design, and safety innovations.

Richard Nauert, founder of the Unlimited Racing Championship Series, and the designer of the new NuArt CanAm race car, had this to say about the recent partnership. “This project has been in the works for years; we have analyzed the original Can-Am cars and have remained true to their visual and spiritual concept. Big block motors, steel brakes, and Can-Am intakes are just some of the historical elements we endeavored to maintain in the new car.”

Although an obvious tribute to the original Can-Am cars of the 1960s the NuArt CanAm cars are loaded with modern technologies. Designed as a true purpose built racing machine, this car is entirely new from the ground up and incorporates the latest engineering in safety, aerodynamics, driver comfort, reliability, and speed.

The car is powered by an all-aluminum, big block, 494-cubic-inch, 700-plus horsepower, fuel injected engine. The injection system is a patented, electronic fuel delivery system featuring a fly-by-wire throttle. This new system will also allow “Scalable Power Settings” to control the horsepower from 300 up to 700+ to provide a safer and faster learning curve for drivers of all levels. The injection system will also feature the tall-stack design accurate to the era.

The car is equipped with power steering and a traditional close ratio “H” pattern 5-speed syncro-mesh gearbox. 12-inch steel brakes will provide the necessary stopping power required to reign in the 700 horses. All in all, this package will provide a challenging, yet fun driving experience, and give fans the speed, sounds, and thunderous power of the original unlimited Can-Am cars of yesteryear.

The inaugural season will consist of four events with two 30 minute races at each venue. The cars will be fully prepared by the URC series organizer and will be presented to the driver race-ready at each venue. This will put an emphasis on the driver’s skills and abilities, and should provide close exciting racing for the fans.

March 5-8            Circuit of the Americas, Austin, TX.

June 26-28          Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI.

August 21-23      Miller Motorsports Park, Salt Lake City, UT.

September 10-13 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, CA.
