Host Kevin Osete takes viewers on a walk-around of a special vehicle, a very rare 197o Dick Harrell 454 Camaro, as musclecar of the week. Oeste, a familiar face to many in the automotive industry – due in large part to his broadcasting work in his own company – has a unique perspective as a car builder and auto enthusiast. When turned loose on a rare collection of one of the most comprehensive collections of musclecars in the world, Oeste highlights one of the rare cars each week.
We ran across last week’s “Musclecar of the Week” which featured one of the rarest beasts of the late 60s and early 70s. Any Chevrolet given the Dick Harrell treatment is an instant classic, and this 1970 Camaro is one of the rarest. So rare, that no one can prove how many were actually made, three or six.
In any case, the Brother’s collection has one, along with the documents to prove that it is the real deal. Currently, no one knows of any other existing Harrell 454 Camaros, so there is nothing to compare this one to. It is believed to be the only Dick Harrell Camaro that remains.
The story behind this Camaro is one that could only have happened in that era. The original owner purchased the car and raced it for parts of three seasons before putting the car in a barn in 1974 when he went to Vietnam.
The car sat for years and years until it resurfaced in 2003 needing a good cleaning. With only 6,000 original miles on the odometer, the car is a virtual time capsule from an era past. Completely unrestored, we get to see it as it came off of the dealer’s showroom as a dealer “Supercar.”
About The Brother’s Collection
The Brothers Collection is probably the most comprehensive collection of Musclecars in the country, if not the world. It features hundreds of cars from from all makes; Hemi Cuda converts, ZL1 Camaros, even ’57 Rancheros with factory superchargers. The Brothers are actually Brothers and are nice guys that value their privacy, but want to share their love of cars.
The Musclecar Of The Week videos are a great way to share some of their collection and Kevin Oeste is the perfect car guy to bring them to life. The Brothers Collection is not open to the public at this time so these videos are the best way to see these great cars.
