The innate need for speed of a gearhead has plenty of viable outlets these days. There are road racing, drag racing, rally racing, and autocross events all over the country to give automotive enthusiasts a legal and enjoyable way to let loose in their cars. But nothing is quite like the simple fun of hooning about in a parking lot. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at this video of professional skateboarder Josh Kalis smoking plenty of rubber in various parking lots behind the wheel of his ‘69 DC Camaro.

Kalis’ Camaro is nothing shy of a beast. Packing nearly 1,000hp, 760 of that to the rear wheels, and 800ft-lbs of torque, the DC Camaro lives up to the reputation its fast-paced skateboarding life.

Producing all the Camaro’s power is a twin turbocharged 408ci small-block LSX engine with an Eagle 4340 crank, Dart Pro 1 heads, Arias 8.5:1 pistons and an LSX Big Mouth intake matted to a T56 transmission by way of a Ram Twin disc clutch. Producing that glorious and unmistakable muscle car roar is a Magnaflow exhaust system chewed out of 3-inch tubing.

Although the DC Camaro is not a pro-touring car in the sense that it was not built for autocross events, it still sports all the goods of a top-notch competitor. Up front, the car sports a Speed Tech Performance trick subframe with adjustable QA1 coilover shocks. Out back you’ll find a Detroit Speed Engineering (DSE) QUADRALink suspension, complete with DSE subframe connectors and Koni shocks.

Both front and rear make use of Wilwood brakes, with the front running 14-inch rotors and 6-piston calipers and rear sporting the 12-inch, four-piston variety. Neo wheels wrapped in Nitto rubber make sure the car stays planted no matter what kind of hooning Kalis throws at it.

Now, aside from the obvious ties of Kalis with DC Shoes (he is, after all, a professional skater sponsored by the company), the Camaro wears a unique style associated with the brand.

Atop Gunmetal PPG paint, the aptly named DC Camaro dons rally stripes abounding in DC logos. We admit, this feature is a bit hard to see at first with all the parking lot bludgeoning going on it the video, but it’s just one more thing that makes this Camaro worth noting.
