Who doesn’t love a little nitrous oxide on a classic Chevy? It’s a simple power adder that can create big numbers easily without breaking your wallet or the bank. However, can you do it safely? “Undertaker598” has a 1969 Chevelle True 10.5 Outlaw that is fully equipped with dual port nitrous and is planning to throw a 600 shot at the big-block Chevy under the hood.
However, to be cautious, he flow tests the dual ports to ensure everything works correctly before he installs it; minimizing the chance of catastrophic failure.
Then, it’s noticed that the first nozzle isn’t performing quite like the other three and then checks it out. In a nutshell, nitrous introduces nitrogen and oxygen on a molecular level to the atomized fuel already entering the manifold.
Essentially, this creates an oxygen-rich environment once it enters the combustion chamber. Ideally, the more oxygen that is delivered, the more power is delivered in return. If you’re unfamiliar with nitrous, it can be dangerous and highly volatile as it can be under as much as 1,000lbs of pressure.
We’re glad “Undertaker598” decided to make a video showing us how he flowed his dual foggers to prevent any sort of problems. Don’t know everything about nitrous? Not to worry, you can read all about it right here. Luckily enough for us, there’s more videos of this setup in a ’69 Chevelle planned for the future, so we’re holding him to. We’ll have to wait and see…
