Premier classic car dealer Smoky Mountain Traders has a crown jewel up for sale; a third generation 1961 Chevrolet Impala.
This Seamist Turquoise Blue two-door beauty is fitted with a big-block 348ci 5.7L V8 mated to a 700R4 transmission. Updating the car to make it better suited for today’s roads, the ’61 Impala has been upgraded to four wheel disc brakes and also set up with power steering.
The paint holds great luster and the white side trim helps to complement its accented body lines. In addition, the chrome trim and bumpers give it a classy touch.
Although curved glass in no longer used on production cars today, it enhances the Impala’s aesthetics which were prominent during the muscle car era. 1961 marked the only year the Impala sport coupe featured “bubble top” roofline stylization.
The offset 18-inch and 20-inch chrome rally wheels tuck gracefully under the big fenders of the Impala. To prevent cutting into the dashboard, the air conditioning vents were fabricated underneath the dash.
The 1960s marked an era of fighter jet and tank-like design aesthetics. This Impala truly spreads its wings with its curves that keep the eye wandering from bumper to bumper.
Although it looks a bit dirty under the hood, the Impala’s exterior looks flawless. It idles with authority and looks ready for a cruise down the boulevard.
