We love nothing more than a Chevy here. What’s even better is two Chevrolets. What we have is a battle of the old versus new. One sexy black Camaro racing a blue with white SS stripes Chevelle.
A timeless 1971 Chevelle SS pulls up to the lights against a new Camaro ZL1. Old school versus new school. Carburetor versus fuel injection. What all that boils down to, is the Camaro wins.
The ZL1 gets the jump off the line and never lets that gap go. He pulls hard and beats the Chevelle. The Camaro finishes in a quick 11.62 seconds at 119MPH. The Chevelle finishes in a respectable 13.59 seconds at 101MPH.
The Chevelle can easily be built to smoke that Camaro. However that Camaro can also be built to dip down into the 10 second range easily.
This drag race is the perfect example of that old school technology versus new school. The Chevelle is built like a tank and can last for a lifetime. The Camaro employs all the latest and greatest technology. This little video helps prove that while many of us might not like the newer designs, the technology is there to prove its place.
Now in the perfect world, we would take the motor from that ZL1 and put it in the Chevelle! Then we could have the best of both worlds, while cruising a classic!
If you’re feeling a bit sad about seeing the Chevelle lose, the video also includes a clip of a Mustang getting beat by a Subaru. That should cheer you up!
