The 1969 Camaro is not just a car that some folks remember, it’s a legend in collector circles. If you are fortunate enough to have a 1969 Camaro, kudos to you. But if you happen to have a ZL1 version of the legend, we want you to adopt us. For many reasons, the ZL1 Camaro is considered an unattainable acquisition. Whether it be because of the cost of buying one, or the fact that they are just not available, the ZL1 is a dream for many. That being said, there might just be a way you can own something “close” to the legendary car.
We found this restomodded 1969 Camaro that the owner says is “tailored after the original ZL1, but is much faster!” Under the hood is a custom-built and dyno-proven 650 horsepower LS3 supported by a Magnuson supercharger with a 90mm throttle body. The exhaust note is handled by a set of Kooks stainless-steel headers that lead into a 3-inch exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Behind that is a Tremec five-speed transmission spinning the gears in the Moser rear end.
The shiny rollers are Billet Specialties Lemans wheels that measure 8 by 18-inches on the front, and 12 by 18-inches on the rear. They’re wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires. Inside, the custom leather seats and console face a dash filled with Auto Meter gauges and a Kenwood sound system. What’s a cool ride without cool air, that’s where the Vintage Air A/C comes in.
This restomodded Camaro epitomizes cool and is a great way to enjoy a ride with the modern conveniences of car with 21st-century amenities, and a classic look that gets you noticed wherever the road might take you.
