It’s been a long time coming, but this week the American Modern team reveals their completed 1965 Chevelle SS, dubbed Ami G (for American Modern Insurance Group) for the first time. Check out the amazing finished vehicle and a little bit of insight on how she came to be in the first place in the video above!
It’s been 20 months now and countless hours of work, but the crew of The Build has finally completed their classic Chevy Malibu build project. What started out as a training tool for American Modern staff members has come such a long way that you may not even recognize her, but rest assured, Ami G. is as original to The Build as every single member who had a hand in her resurrection.
We’ve followed the process of the ’65 Malibu’s revival from start to finish, first introducing you to the car and the concept back in early 2013.
From stripping the classic car down to bare metal and pulling the dented and dinged body panels to reveal a plethora of projects, to the build of the Malibu’s 396ci V8 all the way through the final assembly, Senior Claims Specialist Rick Drewry has walked us all through the tedious process of rebuilding a car that many thought was as good as scrap.
Many thought he and the rest of The Build’s team members were a little crazy for taking on such a substantial project, but the result is enough to put everyone in their place.
Revealed to the complete American Modern staff, as well as media and fellow Chevy enthusiasts, Ami G. is now a prized member of the American Modern garage and we can only imagine where she will go from here.
Be sure to be on the lookout for Ami G. and the American Modern crew at your local car events, as we have a suspicion she’ll be making the rounds to plenty of car shows in the near future! Congratulations crew of The Build on a job well done!
