For the last couple months, our Malibu Monday series has focused on the tear down, clean up and reassembly of the 1965 Malibu SS’s Big Block engine on The Build. But this week, that all changes as American Modern moves forward in the build process of their classic Chevy. Check out what the crew is up to next in this week’s episode of The Build above.
As you may recall, the ’65 Malibu had gone through an incident with a brick wall prior to American Modern acquiring the vehicle. But, as the amount of body filler on the car revealed as the paint was stripped away, that wasn’t the only incident the car had withstood in its lifetime. Luckily, the crew of The Build opted to take the car down to bare metal and restart their project car from scratch, which took a lot of sanding effort.
With rust issues, massive amounts of body filler and some unresolved body flaws, the crew of The Build tackled the sanding project from all different corners, breaking out the palm sanders as well as the sand blaster. Although it was a lot of work, the result is a very clean car- one that can now be inspected properly for undetected damage, which will be addressed later on in the show.
Now that the car is stripped of all its garb, its on to the next step in the restoration/build process. But you’ll have to wait until next week to see what that means for the American Modern crew and their 1965 Malibu!
