A few months ago, we caught up with our friends at American Modern Insurance Group to see the classic Chevy project they were working on. As you know, the crew took on a 1965 Chevy Malibu SS that had tackled a brick wall and was just begging for some serious TLC. Well, from the first couple weeks until now, the American Modern crew has gotten quite a bit done and in this latest video, they tackle the interior. Let the fun begin!

From the seats and the carpet to the rear glass and the bent steering wheel, everything in the Malibu’s interior has to go for this complete rebuild. Image: American Modern on Facebook
When tackling an interior tear-down, you never quite know what you’re going to get (yes Mr. mouse, we’re talking about your nest that appears in the glove box half the time). Thankfully, the interior of the ‘65 Malibu is in pretty good condition and can be disassembled by the crew quite easily.
Once all the seats are out, you can see some damage that wasn’t so obvious when the interior was complete – a rear package tray brace was apparently damaged when something heavy in the trunk hit it during the collision, causing the brace to bend forward.
Other than that, however, the damage to the interior is minimal. Aside from the transmission shifting a bit out of place and a little bit of surface rust on the drivers side floor pan, it looks like the Malibu is in pretty good shape and “The Build” can go on.
Be sure to check back next Monday to see what our friends at American Modern have in store for us!
