While it may be dreaded tax day all across the country, over at The Build, the American Modern crew couldn’t be having more fun. That’s because in this week’s Malibu Monday video, Rick Drewry and four newcomers to The Build are taking on the task of separating the 1965 Malibu’s body shell from the frame – a hefty project but a heck of a lot more fun than doing taxes. Check it out in the video above.

With the front end dismantled, the rear end unbuttoned, and the interior totally gutted, The Build crew moves on to one of the biggest parts of the Malibu project this week – releasing the body from the frame.
But before the body and frame can be pulled apart, the team must disconnect the two pieces by way of the wiring, fuel line, emergency brake cable, and most importantly, the body mounts.
The newcomers to The Build may not have known what they were getting themselves into when they signed up for this portion of the project, but the four of them quickly got their hands dirty as the remainder of the Malibu’s tidbits were pulled from the body. Then it was on to tackling the body mounts, which besides a couple, didn’t give the crew much trouble.
Now that the body mounts are off, the team can look forward to finally separating the car’s body from the frame. Once they do that, they’ll be able to tackle the two problem body mounts a little bit better. Check back next Monday to see the car undergo its final separation!
