No matter how many times we see wheel-stand videos, we never get tired of watching them, especially when they involve classic muscle cars doing it up right at the drag strip. Our latest YouTube find involves such a car. Even if your aren’t a fan of the sport, this wheel-stand video is definitely worth watching.
The video was taken just a couple days ago at the Pacific Street Car Association’s Edelbrock World Finals in Fontana, California. Lined up against a fourth-generation Camaro, Dal Trubey and his ‘70 Chevelle launch with a drop of the lights, just like any drag race you’ve seen. Known for the wheel stands it does, however, the Chevelle doesn’t just launch forward, it also launches its front end skyward.
With the utmost control, Trubey pilots the Chevelle down the track for a few seconds on its rear wheels before coming down on all fours to finish the race. But the wheel stand isn’t the only impressive part of the video. The Chevelle also finishes the race in just 10.23 seconds at 127.21mph, a personal best for Trubey and his Chevelle.
Yes, this video is very much like the other wheel-stand videos you’ve seen, but try to watch it only once and you may be surprised how fast you get hooked.
