Chevy Commercial Suggests Parking a ’67 Impala Inside a Glass Garage

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could display you vehicle for everyone to see but with all the protection of a garage? How about building a glass garage? While you can probably see the issues this type of structure might present, Chevrolet would have had you believing that a glass garage was the only way to store your new Impala Sport Coupe back in 1967. That is until you back through the glass garage door. Check out the commercial that suggests such a crazy storage space above, compliments of Jalopnik.

The Impala Sport Coupe “belongs in a glass garage where it’s always on display,” according to the actor in the 1967 commercial. That’s a noble idea since we can’t argue with wanting to show off the spectacular Coke bottle styling of the redesigned-for-1967 Impala. With those good looks, you’d be crazy to just tuck the car away.

Unfortunately, a glass garage wouldn’t protect against sun fade, might encourage breaking and entering and could result in backing through the door without even seeing it, as the actor does at the end of the commercial.

I guess that means we’ll have to live vicariously through the 1967 Chevrolet commercial. Just try not to cringe too much when the actor backs through the glass door. After all, this “glass garage” is really just the open space above a driveway.
