The days of limited transmission choices for your build are long over thanks to companies like ATI and US Shift. Now, you can bolt a transmission up behind your high-horsepower engine that gives you the best of both worlds; the ability to cruise down the road with overdrive, and harness big horsepower. ATI’s new 6R80E Chevy Transmission Kit allows you to put the versatile transmission in any vehicle.

ATI saw an opportunity to use the 6R80E transmission in Chevy-powered vehicles, so it created the 6R80E Transmission Kit. This kit uses a bellhousing that allows users to bolt the 6R80E to older Chevrolet engines, as well as LS-based mills. The ATI transmission uses one of US Shift’s Quick 6 units to control the 6R80E.

J.C. Beattie Jr. from ATI talks about some of the features the new ATI 6R80E Chevy Transmission Kit offers.

“This unit can be equipped with a transbrake, and it has second gear leave capabilities. It’s something that can work in multiple applications from a street car to a race car. This transmission is rated up to 500 horsepower in stock form, and up to 1,000 horsepower fully built. The kit comes with everything you need to bolt this transmission up to your engine.”

The transmission uses 4.17 / 2.34 / 1.52 / 1.14 / .86 / .69 gear ratios. You don’t need to fret about wiring up ATI’s 6R80E transmission kit. The US Shift Quick 6 box that comes with the kit uses power, ground, tach, TPS, and ignition wires to control the transmission. A “Shift in Progress” signal wire is also included so torque cut can be added to the transmission’s tuning abilities. The kit comes with a short steel pan transmission pan, and a Moroso fabricated pan will also be available.
